About the Area: Fort Ann, NY

Located along the eastern shore of Lake George, Fort Ann is a vacation paradise. This historic farming town features many popular attractions, including a mini golf course and ice cream parlor, outdoor concerts, craft distilleries, a brewing company, beautiful hiking, biking and horseback riding, and several lakes and waterways for boaters and paddlers.

Hiking & Horseback Riding

Outdoor adventurers will find a variety of hiking trails in Fort Ann, including Sleeping Beauty Mountain, Shelving Rocks Falls and Inman Pond Trail. Many of the trails in the Lake George Wild Forest, including Shelving Rock, are also open to horseback riding, and the parking areas at Dacy Clearing Road and Upper Hogtown Road in Fort Ann have equestrian mounting platforms.

Biking
The Champlain Canalway Trail is a 12-mile  section of the Empire State Trail connecting Fort Ann with the neighboring town of Fort Edward. Bike along low-traffic local roads and hard-packed stonedust trails while enjoying scenic vistas, the Champlain Canals and locks, farms, woods and wetlands. Pick up the trail at Fort Ann Village Park on Clay Hill Road or any of the designated parking spots along the route.

Fishing, Boating & Paddling

Both Lake George and Hadlock Lake are summertime favorites for boating, fishing and paddling. In fact, many of our vacation home rentals on Lake George and Hadlock Lake include dock space and kayaks. Fort Ann also offers paddlers access to the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor and the Champlain Canal Water Trail. Launch your kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard from the Fort Ann Kayak Launch on Ann Street and explore New York’s legendary canals.

Craft Breweries & Distilleries

Fort Ann is home to not one, but three craft beverage companies. The town’s craft brewery, Battle Hill Brewing Company, serves locally brewed beer alongside a farm-fresh selection of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and more. For those who prefer a more spirited craft beverage selection, Fort Ann-based Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery and Lake George Distilling Company produce a wide variety of hand-crafted artisan spirits for tasting and purchase.

Family-Friendly Activities

For hours of family fun, Hillbilly Fun Park features two 18-hole mini golf courses and over 50 flavors of ice cream. Plus, guests staying at our Fort Ann vacation properties have access to Paradox Park, a private park and play area on Hadlock Lake reserved exclusively for our renters. The park features a two-tier swing set and slide, as well as a tree house and rock-climbing wall, a basketball court, tetherball, and a firepit with Adirondack chairs for toasting marshmallows and making s’mores.

Concerts in the Park

Grumbellies Concerts in the Park are another great family-friendly event. Pack a picnic and enjoy live music in Fort Ann Park throughout the summer. Held every Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM, this free concert series features a variety of local acts, hosted by Grumbellies Eatery in Fort Ann. A big supporter of the local music scene, Grumbellies serves up live music alongside hand-tossed pizza, calzones, stromboli, burgers, sandwiches and more.
