Apple Picking Near Lake George
Apples are kind of a big deal in New York. Downstate, we’ve got the “Big Apple” and here, in Upstate New York, we’ve got dozens of apple orchards brimming with Cortland, McIntosh and, of course, Empire apples. New York is the second-largest apple-producing state in the country, and you’ll find several u-pick apple orchards within 30 to 60 minutes of our Lake George vacation home rentals.
Saratoga Apple – Schuylerville NY
Family-owned and operated for five generations, Saratoga Apple is open year-round and offers pick-your-own apples starting in September, as well as cider donuts and other farm products.
McWhorter’s Orchard – Argyle NY
Situated on top of a hill with beautiful scenic views, McWhorter’s Orchard offers apple picking,
pumpkins, cider, homemade cider donuts, pony rides and farm animals.
Hick’s Orchard – Granville NY
The oldest u-pick orchard in New York State, Hick’s Orchard has apple picking and pumpkins, as well as a winery, farm animals, and an apple barn with cider, donuts and many other farm products and gifts.
Hayrides Near Lake George

Schuyler Farms – Schuylerville NY
Known for its 7-acre corn maze, Schuyler Farms offers hayrides to the pumpkin patch, as well as gemstone mining, paintball, a farm animal petting zoo, the cornfield café, and a haunted maze on select nights in October.
Ellms Family Farm – Ballston Spa NY
Offering acres of family-friendly fall things to do near Lake George, Ellms Family Farm features pick-your-own pumpkins, corn mazes, cider donuts & 30+ fall activities, including scenic rides on the tractor-drawn pumpkin express.
Double M Haunted Hayrides – Ballston Spa NY
The only haunted hayride in the Lake George Region, Double M Haunted Hayrides & Haunted Houses opens in September. Weave through the haunted woods on a tractor-drawn wagon and check out the other frightful attractions on site.
